The 81st edition of the Spanish Absolute Championships staged its finals this Wednesday, 18 February 2026, at the Palau d’Esports Catalunya in Tarragona, with the city hosting the event for the third consecutive year. On the decisive day, Diego Lillo claimed the men’s singles title and Natalya Prosvirnina won women’s singles, while the doubles trophies went to Camila Renata Moscoso and María Berzosa in women’s doubles, Rafael De Las Heras and Diego Lillo in men’s doubles, and Renata Shypsha and Álvaro Gimeno in mixed doubles.
The ceremonial opening serve for this 81st edition was performed in the presence of Tarragona’s mayor, Rubén Viñuales, Miguel Ángel Machado, President of the RFETM, and Estefanía Serrano, representative of the Sports Department of the Catalan Government. The medal ceremony was conducted by María Cecilia Mangini, Councillor for Equality at Tarragona City Council, Estefanía Serrano, Miguel Ángel Machado, and Daniel Valero Tuinenburg, RFETM Events Director.
In men’s singles, the final delivered a historic image with a brother-versus-brother clash, both from the Valencian Community: Diego Lillo and Alberto Lillo. The match featured moments of maximum competitive tension, especially in the fourth game, with swings in momentum and repeated deuce situations, as Diego had eight match points before the contest was pushed to the deciding game; there, the champion still needed two more chances to seal the title. The podium was completed by Carlos Franco, from Castile–La Mancha, and Miguel Ángel Pantoja, from the Community of Madrid, who shared third place.
In women’s singles, the final was defined by the control of Natalya Prosvirnina, from Catalonia, who imposed her defensive style against Eugenia Sastre, from the Balearic Islands. Prosvirnina thus secured her second Spanish Absolute title, after the one previously won in Jaén. Third place went to Camila Renata Moscoso and Renata Shypsha, both from Catalonia.
In women’s doubles, the pairing of Camila Renata Moscoso, from Catalonia, and María Berzosa, from Castile and León, lifted the title after a final in which the first game was especially tight; from then on, the champions consolidated their superiority in the remaining two games. The runners-up were Renata Shypsha and Alba Rodríguez, both from Catalonia, while third place went to the Catalonia–and–Andalusia duo Martina Sans and Julia Martín, and to the all-Andalusia pairing Isabel Conchillo and Andrea Benítez.
In men’s doubles, Rafael De Las Heras, from the Community of Madrid, and Diego Lillo, from the Valencian Community, produced a solid performance and clear on-table chemistry—built through their shared experience in international events—to prevail in the final and confirm their status in the discipline. With this victory, Diego Lillo closed the day with two titles in Tarragona. The runners-up were Ander Cepas, from the Basque Country, and Juan Pérez, from Andalusia, while third place went to the Castile–La Mancha and Andalusia duo Carlos Franco and Miguel Ángel Vilchez, and to the Region of Murcia and Valencian Community pair Juan Pedro Sánchez and Marc Gutiérrez.
In mixed doubles, Renata Shypsha, from Catalonia, and Álvaro Gimeno, from Aragon, were the most consistent pair in the final, managing key moments with greater composure. Second place went to José Carlos Guillot, from the Valencian Community, and Ainhoa Cristóbal, from the Community of Madrid, while third place was shared by the Catalonia duo Camila Renata Moscoso and Francesc Carrera and the also Catalonia pair Irina Gimeno and Joan Masip.
